Youth Ministry
At Oakwood Student Ministry, we believe that youth are not the church of tomorrow, but that they are the church of TODAY! All 6-12 grade students are welcome to join us as we strive to radically change not only our schools, but our entire community for Jesus Christ.
We have Wednesday night service in the Youth room from 6:30-7:30pm. Our Sunday night small groups meet at the church from 7-8:30pm. Here's a little bit of what we do here at Oakwood: games, student-led worship, small groups and lessons that speak directly to the teen culture of today. Our youth leadership team is AWESOME, and we want to help this generation of teens lead a movement back to our Creator! We believe this WILL happen with our students!
In this student ministry, we want to challenge our students to live a life glorifying and pleasing to the Father. Proverbs 22:6 says, "Start children off on the way they should go, and even when they are old they will not turn from it." Here at Oakwood, we believe developing the habits of reading Scripture, prayer, daily devotions, accountability, and regularly meeting with other Christians will help train our students in the way they should go to live a life please to God. Our desire is to grow so close to Christ that when people look at us, they see Jesus living inside us. We are training our students to "BE" Jesus to people through their words, actions, faith, love and purity (1 Tim 4:12). We are training our students to "go make disciples" (Matt 28:18-20) which is what we are called to do as followers of Christ. We are training our students to be leaders, growing in their faith, helping other students find Jesus, so that Christ may be glorified in all things.
